Article: Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes...
Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) are remote immune-mediated complications of cancer that afect 1 in 300 patients with malignancies. We retrospectively screened our database searching for patients whose samples were sent between January 1, 2007 and October 31, 2021 for a suspicion of PNS and a BC or RCC diagnosis. We collected their clinical and paraclinical features from medical records. The inclusion criteria were the development of neurological symptoms within 5 years from the diagnosis or relapse of a RCC or BC, the absence of other more recent or commonly associated malignancy to PNS, and the exclusion of alternative causes. Patients developing symptoms after treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors were excluded from analysis (eTable1).
