Macarena Villagran Garcia

I am currently a first year PhD student in the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and I am developing my thesis project in the French Reference Center of Paraneoplastic Neurological Syndromes and Autoimmune Encephalitis, centered on the immune tolerance breakdown in Hu antibodies associated autoimmunity.

After completing my specialty and working as a clinical neurologist in Spain, I decided to upgrade my knowledge in the field of neuroimmunology by a two month fellowship in the French Reference Center of PNS and AE. The learning opportunities both at the clinical, research and laboratory level, together with the warm welcome from the team, encouraged me to come back as PhD student in the center.
