I am working as a post-doc in the Biomarker group at the Neuro-SysMed center, University of Bergen and Haukeland University Hospital. Our main research focus is to unravel the pathomechanisms underlying anti-Yo associated paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration (PCD). As this is a rare disease, the access to patient material is scarce and collaborative work across international research groups is highly beneficial.
I had the pleasure of visiting Jérôme Honnorat and his team in May 2022 to strengthen the collaboration with our Biomarker group in Norway. During the four weeks stay, I attended weekly meetings at the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and Hôpital Pierre Wertheimer. In addition, I performed immunohistochemistry on rat sections as a part of an ongoing project together with Olivier Pascual and one of his students, Sarah Benkeder. I was lucky to be able to attend a laboratory retreat in Autun, together with the team at the university and the hospital. This was a great trip with scientific discussions, nice food and social activities.
Everyone was very welcoming and including, which made it easy for me to feel comfortable. I am grateful for this experience with fruitful scientific discussions, lunches, laughs and new friendships. Finally, I can highly recommend a research stay in Lyon with Jérôme Honnorats group.
